Winnipeg fire crews responded to reports of a fire in a home on the 500 block of Young Street on September 21st at approximately 8:38pm. The fire was extinguished around 20 minutes later.

One occupant safely self-evacuated, and a second occupant was located deceased in the home. Winnipeg police said It is believed that foul play was involved in the death of the female victim, nd that the fire had been deliberately set. The Winnipeg Homicide Unit have identified Faye SANDERSON, 44, of Winnipeg as the victim of a homicide.

Update: After a lengthy investigation by the Homicide Unit, a female suspect was identified in connection with a murder. It was discovered that the suspect and the victim had known each other.

Following consultations with Manitoba Justice, a warrant for Second Degree Murder was issued. On March 4, 2025, with help from the Edmonton Police Service, Kendra Leanne Sinclair, 35, was arrested at the Edmonton Institution for Women. She is now in custody.
