Winnipeg Police Service responded to a reported homicide at an apartment building in the 300 block of Blake Street on December 20, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Officers from Central District General Patrol arrived and found Christopher Sean Brown, 56, who had died from his injuries.

The investigation has been taken over by the Homicide Unit.

Update: On December 25, 2025, at approximately 3:42 a.m., officers with the Manitoba First Nations Police arrested 27-year-old Christian Meeches in Long Plains First Nation, Manitoba. He was taken to Winnipeg and handed over to the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit. Meeches has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody.
