On February 15, 2025, around 4:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue involving a woman.
Officers from the North District General Patrol, assisted by the Tactical Support Team and Canine Unit, found an adult male outside the residence with an upper-body injury.
Inside the home, police discovered an adult female also suffering from an upper-body injury.
Both victims received emergency medical treatment at the scene before being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, both later died from their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Sheldon Derrach CATCHEWAY and 35-year-old Shanastene Irene MCLEOD. CATCHEWAY was from Swan Lake First Nation and lived in Winnipeg, while MCLEOD was from Muskowekwan First Nation in Saskatchewan and also resided in Winnipeg.
Update: The Homicide Unit identified two suspects and Canada-Wide warrants have been issued for Jermain Gage HOULE (Second Degree Murder) and Aaron Junior HOULE (Accessory After the Fact).
