Winnipeg Police Service responded to a reported disturbance at a home in the 1300 block of Arlington Street on December 12, 2025, shortly after 3:00 p.m.

When North District General Patrol officers arrived, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and identified the victim as 37-year-old Caleb Joshua Johnston.

Three days later, on December 15, investigators arrested 32-year-old Hugh Keith Switzer. He has been charged with second-degree murder, as well as multiple firearms-related offences, including possession of prohibited or restricted weapons and ammunition, and possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearms. Switzer remains in police custody.

On May 23, 2026, 32-year-old Honesty CULLEN was arrested for her involvement in the incident and charged with Manslaughter. She was detained in custody.
