Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a deceased female located in an apartment block in the 100 block of Jarvis Avenue on August 22nd at approximately 7:00am.
The deceased was transported to hospital, and the Homicide Unit has taken over this investigation.
Update August 24th
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Danielle Dawn BALLANTYNE of Winnipeg, and police said her death is a homicide.
Police noted that two others, Marvin FELIX (54), and Troy BAGULEY (51), were seriously assaulted.
On August 24, the Homicide Unit charged a 15-year-old youth male with Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault x 2. He was detained in custody.
A Canada-Wide warrant for Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault x 2 has been issued for a second youth male. Police have not released any information regarding the second youth.
The Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate this homicide and the related aggravated assaults. Anyone with information or who wishes to speak to investigators is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Update August 27th
A 15-year-old youth male who wanted in connection with two Winnipeg homicides (Danielle Ballantyne and Marvin Felix) and an aggravated assault in the 800 block of Main Street was arrested in Long Plain First Nation. He was turned over to the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit and charged with the following offences:
– Second Degree Murder x 2
– Aggravated Assault
Upadte April 7th, 2023
On March 21, Winnipeg police arrested 21-year-old Tristan Colten MOOSE at the Headingley Correctional Centre regarding BAGULEY, who died of his injuries in March of 2023, and charged with Second-Degree Murder. In addition, on April 5, investigators arrested the 15-year-old and a now 16-year-old male at the Manitoba Youth Centre and a 14-year-old male at his residence.
