On July 23, 2023 Emergency crews responded to a residence on Pembroke Street East.

On arrival police located 27-year-old Chance Turcott deceased inside the home. It is alleged the deceased purchased illegal drugs supplied and died of an overdose shortly after.

On April 4th, 2024 OPP said Pembroke resident Donald Wesley Sullivan, 35, and Ottawa resident Taylor Hein, 37, have been charged with manslaughter and trafficking in a schedule I substance (fentanyl).

Both men remain in custody after their bail hearings, OPP said.
