Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a suspicious death at a residence in the Timberlea neighborhood of Fort McMurray on September 21st.
On arrival, police located 43-year-old Norman Lineham, deceased in his basement suite with suspicious injuries. An autopsy was completed in Edmonton at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, which determined the death to be a homicide.
On Sept. 29, 2023, the RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged 39-year-old Thomas Matthew Cooper, a resident of Fort McMurray, with second-degree murder of a 43-year-old resident of Fort McMurray.
Both people were charged originally with second-degree murder, but their charges upgraded to first-degree murder.
Charlotte Mackey was arrested and charged on October 27th. She is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Nov. 20, 2023.
