Toronto police responded to the report of an injured man in the area of Ontario Street and Shuter Street near Moss Park on April 2nd at approximately 8:14pm. While enroute police were alerted that paramedics had taken the victim who was suffering from facial injries to a local trauma centre.

Police said while in hospital medics located stabbing injuries on the victim. Sadly, he did not survive his injuries. Police said the victim’s name is not being released at this time as next of kin has not been notified.

Shamar James, 30, of Toronto was arrested on April 3rd, and has been charged with:

1. Second Degree Murder

Investigators are asking witnesses, or anyone driving in the area at the time who have dash camera footage to contact police.

Toronto police have identified the victim as Abdi Jama, 58, of Toronto.
