Toronto Homicide #95 – Downtown shooting leaves Edwin “Chris” Humberto Velasquez dead

Toronto police responded to a call for a Shooting in the King Street West and Spadina Avenue area, on December 19th at approximately 12:10am.

It is alleged that a Edwin “Chris” Humberto Velasquez, 34, was walking with a group of people when he was approached by the suspect. The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said a woman in the area was also injured but is expected to survive. 

The suspect fled the area in a vehicle believed to be a blue Mazda. Security camera images of the vehicle have been released by Toronto police.
The licence plate on the vehicle was ATVP 407, however that plate is not associated to that vehicle. The vehicle fled westbound on King Street West. You can view the security footage here YouTube .
