Toronto police responded to a shooting call in the College Street and Spadina Avenue area on August 21, 2023, at 4:52 a.m. Police said an interaction occurred involving several men, that escalated and resulted in a shooting.
Police arrived to find Oluwatobi “Tobi” Alaga, 41, of Toronto, suffering from injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Investigators are asking anyone who was driving in the area of College Street and Spadina Avenue between 4:30 – 5:00 a.m., who have dash-cam or other video footage, to contact police. Additionally, anyone who was in the area and observed any altercations between people is also asked to contact police.
On Saturday, September, 30, 2023, investigators made an arrest in Innisfil, Ontario, with assistance from the O.P.P. and the South Simcoe Police Service.
Carlos Swaby-Palacios, 26, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
- First Degree Murder
