Toronto police responded to a report of a shooting, and a man laying on the sidewalk in the Bay Street and Yorkville Avenue area on May 28th at approximately 11:30pm.

Police arrived to find Matthew Staikos, 37, of Toronto, suffering from serious injuries. Staikos was pronounced at the scene.

The suspect is described as black, 5’10”, medium build. He fled the area in a vehicle described as a silver or grey four-door Mercedes.

On June 8th, 2021 Investigative Solutions announced that the family of homicide victim Matthew Staikos is offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and successful prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Matthew Staikos.
