Update: Mohamed Hassan arrested in Toronto’s 17th homicide of 2021 – Man fatally shot in the city’s west end

Toronto police responded to the report of two men with gunshot wounds in a car near Tallon Road and Trehorne Drive on April 3rd at approximately 5:41pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find the victims, one with vital signs absent, inside the vehicle. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Habil Abdilahi Hassan, 21, of Toronto. The second victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a car that police say was involved in a collision, and then fled on foot. A firearm was recovered inside of the vehicle.

Suspect #1 is described as male, black, 20-25 years, wearing a dark coat and dark pants. 

Suspect #2 is described as male, black, 20-25 years, wearing light coloured jeans and a light blue surgical mask. 

Update April 8th
Antwan Triston James, 18, of Toronto, was identified as a suspect and is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for:

1. First-Degree Murder

2. Attempted Murder

Update April 13
Mohamed Hassan, 20, of Toronto, has been identified as the second suspect and is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for:

1. First-Degree Murder

2. Attempted Murder

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Update April 23
Antwan Triston James, 18, of Toronto, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, surrendered to police. He is charged with:

1. First-Degree Murder
2. Attempted Murder

Update July 8th, 2022
Toronto police offer a reward up to $50,000, as part of the BOLO Porgram for the arrest of Mohamed Hassan who remains outstanding. Hassan is wanted on Canada-wide warrants for first-degree murder and attempted murder. It is believed he is in the Greater Toronto area.

TPS said the rewards are available until January 7, 2023.

Anyone who sees Hassan, should immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone offering them assistance in evading arrest may be considered an accessory after the fact and face charges.

Update: On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Mohamed Hassan was arrested in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on an unrelated matter.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. (CST) in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Investigators are working with prosecutors from Prince Albert to have Mohamed Hassan brought back to Toronto.
