Toronto police responded to a radio call for a suspicious incident in the Humber River, south of Dundas Street West area on March 8th at 10:06am.
Police arrived to find Ruth Ann Longboat, 56, of Six Nations Reserve, deceased at the scene. The cause of death has not been released at this time and the homicide team has taken over the investigation.

TPS said “This is an active investigation and police remain in the area carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the occurrence.”
Update Toronto police announced on March 14th that the Ontario Provincial Police have now taken over this investigation and Toronto Police Service will continue to provide assistance.
This occurrence is no longer listed as Homicide #16/2022. The next homicide will be assigned as Homicide #16/2022.
Update June 9th
OPP and Six Nations police announced that Michael Joseph, 23, of Brantford and Jayden Elijah, 23, od London have been charged in relation to the homicide of Ruth Ann Longboat. Both men have been charged with First-Degree murder and committing an indignity to a body.
