On April 15, 2025, the St. George RCMP received a report about a 26-year-old woman from Musquash who had gone missing.
By April 17, the Major Crime Unit had taken over the case. That same day, her car was discovered in Maces Bay, and with the help of police dogs, her body was also located in the area.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Sarah Teakles.
On April 21, a 31-year-old man—already in custody on separate charges following an arrest by the Saint John Police Force—was taken into custody by the New Brunswick RCMP in relation to an ongoing investigation.
The following day, April 22, Calvin Burns-Smith appeared in Saint John Provincial Court, where he was formally charged with manslaughter and committing an indignity to a dead body.
