The death of David Sheppard in Glace Bay deemed a homicide

Glace Bay police responded to a report of an unwanted intruder entering the home of David Sheppard, 51, on January 18th, assaulted him, and fled the scene.

Police arrived at the Brookland Street home to find David Sheppard suffering from injuries. According theguardian.pe.ca, Sheppard was rushed to Cape Breton Regional Hospital by EHS and later transferred to a hospital in Halifax for cranial wounds where he died of his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted and revealed the manner of death to be a homicide. No arrests have been made at this time.

Update: On July 10th 2023 investigators arrested 42-year-old Stephen Troy MacDonald of Glace Bay. MacDonald has been charged with second-degree murder and breaking and entering.
