Creston RCMP and first responders responded to a report of a man and a woman in medical distress at the Highway 3 pullout near the Summit Creek Bridge on January 6th at approximately 7:00pm.
RCMP said the 40-year-old Calgary man was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the second victim, a 25-year-old West Kootenay woman, was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries. Police said both victims had been stabbed by a suspect who reportedly fled the scene in a motor vehicle associated to one of the victims.
The victim’s vehicle was located near Salmo and hours later. The male suspect was located appearing to be passed out near an electrical shed at a motel in the same town. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Criminality is not suspected.
RCMP said neither the victims or suspect will be identified by police or the BC Coroners Service.
