Calgary police responded to reports of an incident outside an elementary school in the 300 block of Strathcona Drive S.W. on January 16th at approximately 7:40 a.m.

Police said the victim, a woman, was declared deceased at the scene in what is believed to be a targeted incident.

Investigators remained at the scene to speak with witnesses and to gather additional information. The suspect, the estranged husband of the victim was located nearby deceased, There is no risk to the public.

Investigators believe the incident was domestic. They will not be releasing the identity of the deceased even after the completion of the autopsy to protect the privacy of the family.
