Update: Charges laid – St. Paul RCMP investigate a suspicious death of Francis Primeau in Saddle Lake Cree Nation

St. Paul RCMP responded to the report of a gunshot had been heard at a residence on Saddle Lake Cree Nation and a vehicle fleeing the scene on June 7th at approximately 9:05am. The caller then went outside and located an injured person in the driveway.

St. Paul RCMP and paramedics arrived to find a deceased man in the driveway. Police have not released his identity at this time. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken over carriage of this investigation.

Police said “It is very early in this investigation, and further details are not available. Further information will be released when available.”

Anyone with dashcam footage in Saddle Lake Cree Nation between 08:30 a.m. and 09:30 a.m. on June 7, 2021, to please contact St. Paul RCMP at 780-645-8870.

Update June 30th
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes arrested Charlton Dwight Gladue, 34, of Saddle Lake Cree Nation on June 25th and charged him with Second Degree Murder in the death of Francis Primeau, 25.
