16-year old charged with Second-Degree Murder of Nathaniel Jake Beaver in Stoney Nakoda First Nation

Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation on June 2nd at approximately 9:53pm.

Police arrived to find Nathaniel Jake Beaver, 19, of Stoney Nakoda First Nation suffering from serious injuries. Police administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Beaver was pronounced at the scene. An autopsy was completed at the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on June 4th and revealed the manner of death to be a homicide.

On June 5th a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The accused cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

No further information will be provided, as the matter is before the courts.
