St. Catharines police investigate the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man

St. Catharines police responded to the area of Glenridge Avenue and Marsdale Drive on April 12th at approximately 8:30pm on a report of a shooting.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 32-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hopital where he was pronounced deceased.

St Catharines police said a male was taken into custody however charges have not been not laid at this time. 

Niagara Region Police seeking any footage in that area that captures and matches or is similar to the following criteria between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm.

  • Newer model 
  • Dark Blue or Black 
  • 4 Door

  • DODGE RAM 
  • Pick-up truck 
  • 4 Door Grey 
  • REBEL written on side of box 
  • Ontario licence BE 95676 

Or 

  • Two Black Males 
  • Slim build 
  • Approximately 6’00” tall 
  • Last seen walking south on Marsdale Avenue towards Glendale Avenue

Update April 16th
Niagara Region police have identified the victim as 32-year-olf Yan JING of St. Catharines.

Update September 2nd.
On August 19, 25-year-old Heng “Allen” Du, a Chinese National, from Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder and Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code. 

Du appeared for a bail hearing on August 20, 2021 and was remanded into custody. 

On August 27, 22-year-old Fang “Fionna” Wang, a Chinese National, from Richmond Hill, was charged with First Degree Murder.

Wang appeared for a bail hearing on August 28, 2021 and was remanded into custody.

On September 2, 20-year-old Jiapeng “Jimmy” Wu, a Chinese National, from Toronto, was charged with First Degree Murder.
