Éric Levasseur charged with the murder of his partner Carolyne Labonté in Notre-Dame-des-Monts

Charlevoix-Est police responded to an unexplained death of the woman in an apartment on rue Principale, in Notre-Dame-des-Monts on March 18th at approximately 11:45am

Police arrived to find 40-year-old Carolyne Labonté deceased. Two days later an autopsy was conducted and ballistic analysis revealed the death of Labonté was a homicide.

The Sûreté du Québec arrested Labonté’s partner who she lived with, 46-year-old Éric Levasseur on Monday April 12th and charged with second-degree murder. According to the SQ, the suspect had already been detained since March 26 on a case of unauthorized possession of a firearm in Valleyfield.

The murder of Carolyne Labonté is the provinces 9th domestic related femicide by a partner / ex-partner in 2021.
