Nunavik Police Service officers responded to report of an assault at a home in Puvirnituq on February 25th at approximately 3:00am.

Police arrived to find a woman suffering from serious injuries. She was sent to hospital where she is expected to survive.

 Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Nancy Fournier said the investigation led them to another home where Qalingo Sivurarapik, 36, was found deceased. Police have not released the cause of death.

Inuksiak Nowrakallak of Nunavik was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of Sivrarapik, and attempted murder in relation to the female victim.
