Emergency crews were called to a structure fire on Mapleport Crescent, on August 15th just before 8:00am. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in what has been described as a playhouse to find the body of a teen.
The deceased has been identified as Genesis Young, 17, in a Gofundme campaign. According to reports Genesis Young, had been in the playhouse with her 18-year-old boyfriend, who was the homeowner’s son when the fire broke out.
OPP arrested Taran Hibma, 18, of Owen Sound, on September 9th and charged him with Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and Arson.
