On February 3, 2024, Saskatoon police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue on the report of an aggravated assault involving firearms.

Members of the Tactical Support Unit were assisting in the execution of a search warrant. During the incident, a SPS member discharged their firearm. One suspect, a 34-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital; he is believed to be in stable condition. 

Two females were also arrested at the scene.

Officers located a deceased 25-year-old male inside the residence. Following an investigation by the SPS Major Crime and Forensic Identification Sections, a 32-year-old woman has been charged with First Degree Murder.

At the request of his family, police will not be releasing the victim’s name at this time.

Saskatoon Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle in connection with the homicide investigation.

Update: According to CBC, Chantal Lee McLaren, 35, pleaded guilty in Court of King’s Bench to being an accessory after the fact to murder in connection with the death of Lee Perkins on Feb. 3, 2024. A second charge of offering an indignity to human remains is expected to be withdrawn once the case is completed.

Jurors had been selected earlier in the week and were expected to hear roughly three weeks of testimony before McLaren changed her plea on May 14th 2026, the same day opening statements were scheduled to begin. She is set to return to court on Sept. 2 for sentencing submissions. Meanwhile, co-accused Edin Vrazalica still faces a first-degree murder trial later this year, while another accused, Dillon Singler, has already pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
