Update: Saskatoon police charge a 9th person in relation to the disappearance of Megan Gallagher

Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section said they are entering into a homicide investigation into the suspicious missing persons file of Megan Gallagher,30.

Police said Megan Gallagher was last seen on video at a convenience store in the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive on September 20th at 6:00am. Megan Gallagher has been described as wearing a black Cabella’s hoodie, black pants, and a light blue shirt underneath her hoodie. Megan also has several tattoos:

  • Half sleeve tattoo with a large owl from shoulder to elbow
  • Tattoo of a cross behind her ear
  • Rainbow coloured feather on her ankle
  • The names “Jake” and “Adam” beneath her arm
  • #13 on her hand

Update June 4th
1 – RCMP announced that Roderick William Sutherland, 44, was taken into custody by the RCMP in the area of Prince Albert following a tip from the public. He was charged with Indignity to Human Remains and is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 3, 2022.

Investigators continue to search for John Wayne Sanderson, 44, of the James Smith First Nation, and Jessica Sutherland, 42, of no known address. Both are wanted for Indignity to Human Remains. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the two wanted persons or with information believed to be relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Update June 6th
2 – Jessica Sutherland, age 42, was taken into custody by members of the RCMP in the area of Onion Lake following a tip from the public.

Update:
3 – John Wayne Sanderson, 44, in the James Smith Cree Nation was arrested on July 27th and charged with Indignity to Human Remains and also has unrelated warrants with the RCMP. 

Update September 20th
4 – SPS investigators, with assistance from British Columbia RCMP have arrested a 27-year-old man at a residence in Prince George, B.C. He in relation to the murder of Megan Gallagher. The suspect is being transported back to Saskatoon where he will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court later this week.

Update September 29th
5 – On September 29th, SPS investigators attended to a correctional facility on the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation to effect the arrest of Robin Tyler John. John was transported to SPS Detention and is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.


SPS Major Crime Section coordinated the search of the South Saskatchewan River following consultation with Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker and officials from the Water Security Agency. On September 29th at 2:30pm human remains were recovered, and testing will be conducted to determine identity.

6 – On January 4, 2023, police attended to the 2400 block of 22nd Street West where they located and effected the arrest of Summer-Sky Henry, 24. She has been charged with the first-degree murder of Megan Gallagher. Additional charges unrelated to the homicide include; robbery, unlawful confinement, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, possession for the purpose of trafficking, aggravated assault, and robbery with violence.

Others face charges for aggravated assault, unlawful confinement and offering an indignity to human remains.
