On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Raymond RCMP responded to reports of gunfire in the community. The caller told police they heard about 20 gunshot-like sounds within a few minutes, along with people yelling in the area.

RCMP officers from Raymond, Coaldale, Picture Butte, and Cardston responded to the scene, with assistance from Lethbridge Police Service Dog Services.

As a result of the incident, a 22-year-old man from Calgary was killed. Police are also investigating the circumstances involving a second victim, a 26-year-old Calgary resident, who arrived at Chinook Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound in the early morning hours.

Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted and isolated incident and have stated there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
