Family friend charged with the murder of 13-year-old Océane Boyer in the Laurentians

Quebec provincial police said the body of a young teenaged girl was found by the side of a road in Brownsburg-Chatham on February 26th at approximately 11:15 am. The girl’s family reported her missing the evening of February 26th.

Police said her body bore marks of violence, and police believe her death was a homicide. She was declared deceased in hospital shortly after. The cause of death has not been released.

Update February 27th:
Quebec provincial police said they arrested François Sénécal, 51, February 27th in connection with the violent death of Océane Boyer, 13. It is alleged that Sénécal forced Boyer to take a large dose of medicine and alcohol before beating her to death with a blunt object.  According to reports, the accused and the victim’s family had been close for years. Francois Senecal was sentenced to life in prison on April 22nd, 2022,  after pleading guilty to the murder of 13-year-old Oceane Boyer. Senecal, was a longtime friend of Boyer’s family and the victim considered him an uncle. Superior Court Justice France Charbonneau  said “Everyone trusted him, However, rather than face the consequences of the acts of a sexual nature he had committed, Francois Senecal preferred to kill the young victim to silence her, and then erase all traces that could link to him by removing her pants, covered with hair from his dog,”
