Nearly six years after the suspicious death of a 23-year-old Grande Prairie woman, Alberta RCMP have announced an arrest in the case.
The investigation began on the night of August 11, 2020, when Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report shortly after 11:18 p.m. Officers determined the young woman had died inside her residence. Due to the suspicious nature of the death, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
At the time, investigators appealed to the public for information, asking anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious activity in the area of Mountainview Manor between 8:00 p.m. on August 11 and 1:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020, to come forward.
After years of investigation, RCMP announced that on June 25, 2026, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant in connection with the case.
On July 3, 2026, a 29-year-old resident of Mackenzie County was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The accused was brought before a justice of the peace, remanded into custody, and was scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on July 6, 2026.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that remained under investigation for nearly six years. RCMP have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the death, and the matter is now before the courts.
