Laval police said a family member called 911 at approximately 2:30pm on January 3rd.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 7-year-old girl in cardiac arrest. She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. According to Radio-Canada, the child was found with bruises and burns on her body.

Laval police spokesperson Const. Stéphanie Beshara said six people were in the house when authorities arrived, but the couple’s two younger children, a boy, and a girl, were not there.

Police said they have twelve CSI working on the case.
