Pincher Creek homicide victim identified as Megan Eekma

Pincher Creek emergency services responded to a report of a deceased female on Nov. 19, 2021 at approximately 7:55am.

Police said the victim was travelling with another individual from British Columbia to Alberta. During the trip, an interaction occurred resulting in the death of Megan Eekma,34 of southern Alberta (pictured below).

On Nov. 23, 2021 Alberta Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged Melissa Lynn Martens-Lagasse (26) of Medicine Hat with first degree murder and an indignity to human remains. She did not post bail and is next scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Nov. 25, 2021.
