Update: Linval Alfonso Ritchie was arrested in Hamilton in relation to the homicide of a woman in Brampton

Peel police responded to a disturbance in the area of Aloma Crescent and Avondale Boulevard in Brampton on June 17th at approximately 5:57am.

 Police arrived to find a deceased adult woman inside the residence with obvious signs of trauma. The victim’s identity has not been released.

As a result of the investigation, police have identified the suspect as  Linval Alfonso Ritchie, a 29-year-old man from Brampton who was in an intimate partner relationship with the victim. Police said he is wanted for Murder and is considered armed and dangerous.

Linval Ritchie is known to be associated with two vehicles:

  • 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer 4 door red, bearing Ontario Licence *CMLT 713*
  • 2006 Audi NAQ 4 Door grey, bearing Ontario Licence *CLJJ 458*

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators from the Homicide and Missing Person Bureau Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453–2121, extension 3205. Information may also be left anonymously by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). 

Update June 21st
The Victim has been identified by her family as Vanessa Virgioni, 29. A GoFundMe has been set up for Virgioni by her family.

The suspect Linval Ritchie is her former partner, and the father of their 7-year-old son.

Linval Alfonso Ritchie of Brampton was located with assistance from the Hamilton Police Service. Peel Regional Police have since charged him with First Degree Murder.
