Paul Glen McMaster Charged in the Boxing Day Death of Jarrett Solway on Siksika First Nation

Gleichen RCMP responded to a report of an assault on Siksika First Nation on the evening of Dec. 25, 2025, at approximately 8:48 p.m.

Officers went to the victim’s home and determined he needed urgent medical care. He was taken to a hospital in Calgary.

The victim died the following day, Dec. 26, 2025. An autopsy conducted on Dec. 29 by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary ruled the death a homicide, prompting the RCMP Major Crimes Unit to take over the investigation.

On Jan. 6, 2026, police arrested Paul Glen McMaster, 40, of Siksika First Nation and Calgary, in connection with the death of 35-year-old Jarrett Solway. McMaster has been charged with manslaughter.

Following a judicial interim release hearing, McMaster was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice on Siksika First Nation on Jan. 8, 2026.
