British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List
On Monday, January 5, 2026, Kamloops RCMP officers responded to a wellbeing check at a home on Dalgleish Drive. Tragically, a deceased man, later identified as Muhammad “Ash” Zafar, was found inside the residence.
Based on evidence collected so far, police are treating the case as a homicide. Authorities believe the incident was isolated and have stated there is no ongoing risk to the public.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is focused on establishing a timeline of Mr. Zafar’s movements and interactions in the days leading up to his death.
Staff Sergeant Kevin McIntyre of the Kamloops RCMP emphasized the importance of community assistance:
“We are still asking anyone who had contact with Mr. Zafar between Saturday evening and late Sunday to reach out to investigators,” said Staff Sergeant Kevin McIntyre of the Kamloops RCMP. “This includes individuals who use men‑seeking‑men dating sites or apps and may have communicated with him, or with someone using his images or profile information.”
“We are also appealing to anyone who noticed unusual behaviour in someone they know, such as unexplained injuries, sudden changes in routine, cancelled plans, or conduct that seemed out of character, as well as residents or visitors who observed suspicious activity in the Dalgleish Drive or West End area during that timeframe. Seemingly small details often produce significant outcomes, if something stood out to you, even for a moment, we need you to come forward.”
Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who:
- Saw or spoke with Muhammad Zafar between January 2 and January 5, 2026
- Noticed any unusual activity in the Dalgleish Drive or West End area
- Was part of Mr. Zafar’s social or professional circles and has information not yet shared with police
