Ottawa Man Charged with Manslaughter in Fatal 2022 South Stormont, Ontario, Opioid Overdose

A 22-year-old man from Ottawa has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal drug overdose northwest of Ingleside.

On October 28, 2022, SD&G OPP officers responded to a home on Neville Road in South Stormont Township, where they found a 20-year-old woman unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and a postmortem confirmed her death was caused by an opioid overdose.

Since then, the SD&G OPP Crime Unit, working under the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, has been investigating the source of the opioids involved.

On Friday, February 27, police arrested the Ottawa man and charged him with manslaughter and two counts of trafficking in a Schedule I substance. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today.
