A 27-year-old man who police say is a known gang member was shot and killed inside a home in south Ottawa, becoming the city’s first homicide victim of the year.

On the heels of a record year for shootings in the city, the police battle to curb gang-related gun violence in Ottawa came to a head Friday when a 27-year-old member of the Ledbury-Banff Crips was shot dead while lying on a couch inside a southside home.

**Update Two menMohamed Abdi Abdullahi, 32, and Abdullahi Osman, 23 have been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Yusuf Ibrahim.
