RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a request to check on the well-being of two people at a home on Rockcliffe Dr. in Enfield on October 18 at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Responding officers found the remains of two adults deceased in the residence.
Working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service, investigators have determined that Brenda Tatlock-Burke, 59, died as a result of homicide and the death of her husband Mike Burke, 61, was due to self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation shows that the man, who was a retired RCMP member, was responsible for the woman’s death and that this is an incident of intimate partner violence.
RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division will not be releasing any further details.
