La Loche RCMP responded to a report of an injured man being transported by private vehicle to hospital on May 28th at approximately 1:10pm.

Police and paramedics located the vehicle on Garson Lake Road, where they found Ryan Piche, 42, from Clearwater River Dene Nation deceased.

Investigators determined an altercation occurred at a residence in Garson Lake. As a result, Melissa Laprise from La Loche was arrested on May 28 and charged with one count, second degree murder
