Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Jean-Raphael Drolet reported that officers were called to a residence on Rue Saint-Exupéry in Lachute around 2:30 p.m. on Friday following a complaint about a man trespassing on private property.

Police later attended a nearby home, where they discovered an unresponsive woman. She was transported to the hospital, where she was later declared deceased.

On Saturday, May 17, 36-year-old Mathieu McClaren appeared in court and was formally charged with second-degree murder.
