Manslaughter charge laid in fatal overdose of Szymon Kalich

Edmonton police said that they have laid their first manslaughter charge in relation to a fatal fentanyl overdose that took the life of 33 year old Szymon Kalich.

Police responded to report of an unresponsive male on January 27th in a home around 33 Street and 18 Avenue. Kalich was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy and toxicology proved Kalich died of a fentanyl overdose.

Jordan Yarmey, 25, was arrested on Monday October 24th and charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Kalich.

Szymon Kalich is Edmontons 36th homicide of 2016.
