Update: Shawn Owen Spence arrested – Manitoba RCMP investigate a fatal shooting in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to a shooting outside a residence on Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation on June 6th at approximately 6:30 am.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 39-year-old male who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and Emergency Response Team are currently in the community investigating. Police do not believe the shooting was random.

26-year-old Shawn Owen Spence, of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. has been arrested and charged with
First Degree Murder
Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited
Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized.
