Kitchener Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List
Waterloo Regional Police have laid charges in what has been confirmed as Kitchener’s first homicide of the year.
Police say that on January 23, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Garden Path Place and Countrystone Crescent following a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult man deceased inside a residence.
As the investigation unfolded, police identified a suspect believed to be known to the victim. Officers later located the suspect in the area of Ardelt Avenue in Kitchener, where a 26-year-old man was taken into custody.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit assumed control of the investigation, and residents in the area were advised to expect an increased police presence as officers canvassed for witnesses and gathered evidence.
Police have since confirmed that the 26-year-old accused has been formally charged with Second Degree Murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing.
