The RCMP has confirmed that the discovery of human remains on a property in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood on November 21, 2024, is now being investigated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Dimitar Rachev.

On May 15, 2025, RCMP Major Crime Services, with the support of a forensic anthropology team, returned to the scene to carry out a secondary ground search.

Investigators are appealing to the public for information from anyone who had contact with Dimitar Rachev after November 1, 2024. Police are also seeking help in identifying a man shown in surveillance images, who may have knowledge related to the case.
