Hamilton Man, Andrew Ainscow, Victim of 14th Homicide of 2020

The Hamilton Police Service has released they are investigating a male’s death in the vicinity of Duke St. and MacNab St and so far little is known. The male victim has not been identified or a cause of death released, nor any suspect info. This is the 14th homicide in Hamilton in 2020 compared to the 13 in 2019 and also the 10th male homicide in 2020. More to come.

Update
Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk said police were called to an alleyway near the corner of Duke Street and James Street South around 7 a.m after a man with “obvious injuries” was found dead. Bereziuk said the man appeared to be older than 30 and had been stabbed.

Update November 11th
Police have identified the victim as Andrew Ainscow, 29, of Hamilton.

Police said they received multiple 911 reports of a street disturbance in the city on Nov. 9th at 6:30 pm. Police found a 46-year-old woman with serious injuries, who had been attacked with a large stick. later that same evening police arrested Keith Allan Overholt, 38, of No Fixed Address, in the area of Jackson St. and MacNab St. Overholt was charged with attempted murder in the attack on the woman earlier that night.  Police said they are investigating a possible connection to the earlier incidents.
