Hamilton police responded a to disturbance at 737 Barton Street East on June 13th.
Police said they located a male in his 50 with signs of blunt force trauma in the second floor hallway. The victim was rushed to the Hamilton General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
According to Hamilton police, “Witnesses report a verbal altercation that occurred inside the building prior to the discovery of the male victim by other tenants of the premise. At this time, investigators do not have any suspect(s) descriptions available.”

Update June 17th
Hamilton police have identified the deceased as long time tenant of the building, Patrick Chaddock, 59.
Colin Marcotte, 47, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. Police said Marcotte was associated to the premise through other tenants, however, was not currently residing there. There was no relationship between the victim and the accused.
