Hamilton Police responded to a 911 call at 16 St. Matthews Avenue, near Barton Street on July 15th at approximately 4:00am.
On arrival police located a 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries later that morning.
Police are searching for two male persons of interest that were seen fleeing the scene. Police said the men are believed to be in their early 20’s who exited the rear of the residence and fled down an alleyway in an unknown direction. Police said one of the persons of interest may have a short brown buzz cut, while the other has long brown hair.

Update July 17th
The suspect was located by uniformed police near the scene and arrested at 2:35 a.m. ton July 16th. 21-year-old Devante Skye-Davis, has been charged with manslaughter in relation to the shooting death of Myah Larmond and appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse via video.
Police said “At this time, the evidence supports an element of carelessness and recklessness by the accused. There is currently no evidence to suggest the victim was the intended target.”
Police have not located the firearm and ask residents to thoroughly search their property in case the weapon has been tossed or concealed.
Update August 21st 2021
20-year-old Cadence Beauparlant of Hamilton has been arrested and charged with Manslaughter and Unauthorized possession of a loaded firearm.
Update July 14th 2022
Hamilton police are searching for Devante Skye-Davis, 23, who is currently wanted by Hamilton Police for two counts of failing to comply with his release order. Police believe Skye-Davis is in the city of Hamilton.
Devante is described as:
· 23-years-of-age
· Brown eyes
· Facial hair
· 5’9
· 150 pounds
· Frequently has hair two-toned as pictured
· Tattoo – design on left side of neck

If he is observed, police ask that members of the public call 9-1-1, do not approach.

Update: According to the Hamilton Spectator Skye-Davis initially denied shooting Larmond, but he later confessed and pleaded guilty to manslaughter this February. After credit for time spent in jail before sentencing, Devante Skye-Davis has 23 months left on his jail sentence, followed by three years probation.
