Fort Good Hope RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the community on June 15, 2024.
Harley Pierrot was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later transported out of the community via medivac.
RCMP said in a press release:
“The suspect was located and arrested by responding officers without incident. He was initially lodged in RCMP cells however an evacuation order was issued for the community shortly after and he was released from custody on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date to answer to a charge of Aggravated Assault.
On June 28, 2024, Harley Pierrot died of his injuries.
On July 22, 2024, 53-year-old Floyd Kakfwi of Fort Good Hope was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder.
Update: According to CBC, Kakfwi has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, in the stabbing death of Harley Pierrot
