Edmonton homicide #19 – Homicide Section investigates the second homicide in less than 24 hours

Edmonton police responded to a weapons complaint at 24 Avenue and 108 Street on August 6th at approximately 4:00pm.

Police arrived to find a male and female with minor injuries, as well as two uninjured children. Upon further inspection police found another man suffering from serious injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

Police said the man found at the home was arrested and the woman was taken to hospital.  EPS Homicide Section has taken carriage of the investigation. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Update August 13th
The victim has been identified by police as Riel Stamp, 26. An autopsy was completed and revealed the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds.

Brett Cordelius Stamp, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder, assault causing bodily harm, killing an animal  (under section 445 of the Criminal Code of Canada), and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
