Douglas Andrew Smith has been charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of a 72-year-old woman

Kings District RCMP said on May 1st police received a report of a murder that had occurred at a home on Pleasant St. in Kingsport on April 30.

Police said 72-year-old woman had been murdered and 71-year-old Douglas Andrew Smith had turned himself in at the New Minas RCMP Detachment.

Douglas Andrew Smith, 71, of Kingsport, has been charged with second degree murder and appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on May 2. Smith was remanded into custody and will return to Kentville Provincial Court on June 2, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
