Charges approved in the Vancouver murder of Damien Franklin Leung

Vancouver police responded to several 911 reports of a stabbing near East 57th Avenue and Prince Edward Street on November 14th at approximately 9:00pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Damien Franklin Leung, 34, suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Constable Jason Doucette, VPD said, “Minutes later, police arrested the suspect a block from the crime scene.” The victim and the 30-year-old male suspect were known to each other.

Update November 25th 2020

John Huang, 30, has been charged with second degree murder. Huang will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Constable Tania Visintin, VPD said “Although charges have been approved, homicide detectives are continuing to gather more evidence to present the best package to Crown counsel.”
