Winnipeg Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Fatal Pimicikamak Cree Nation Shooting

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, Cross Lake RCMP were notified by First Nation Safety Officers of a seriously injured person on Main Road in the community.

When officers arrived, they found two men at the scene. One of the men had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The second man was unharmed and did not require medical attention.

Investigators initially believed the suspect was known to the victims and may have remained in the community while officers worked to locate the individual.

The investigation, led by Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services with assistance from Manitoba RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Cross Lake RCMP, resulted in an arrest on August 5, 2026.

At approximately 12:28 p.m. that day, officers with The Pas RCMP arrested 22-year-old Brennan Rudolph of Winnipeg without incident.

Rudolph has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of the 42-year-old man. Police have not released the victim’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
